November 23, 2024The spine had some issues and I had to make several adjustments to the spiral to get the pages to open without issue. However, this is a cookbook from the 1980s, so overall in good condition. The spiral was more of a nuisance.

October 22, 2024I’m surprised that anyone would sell the book that received. It has “Warren County Library” and a scan code on the front cover. Did somebody steal this and sell it? Never again.
A very worthwhile slow cooker book to own

October 13, 2020This is an excellent book, with explanations of why certain recipe steps are necessary. The first recipe we tried was a winner, not just a warm meal. The instructions are clear and the prep time reasonable, especially if you have a microwave, which we do not. I would have liked alternate instructions for those without a microwave.

November 7, 2013Overall, a good cookbook, with typical Americas Test Kitchen attention to details. Plusses and minuses are:
+ great pictures
+ I like the "why this recipe works", tips, techniques and misc. info
+ good instructions
+ keen insights into what works and what doesn't in using a slow cooker and how to address issues
- many recipes seem to be a lot more complicated than necessary, and often use more obscure ingredients
- some recipes seemed "force-fitted" to slow-cooker, when other means of cooking are better suited (eg. mashed potatoes - 4-6 hours)
